CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND EXTRAMURAL DISCLOSURE

The purpose of the Conflict of Interest and Extramural Disclosure Project (COI) is to standardize and update the existing processes. Today, both of these processes are managed at the school level, through a variety of means. The intention for the project is to standardize the tools to collect required information (in a format that will be updated as regulations change) and make it is as easy to use as possible.

The OVPR has contracted Novelution to develop and implement a user-friendly, University-wide Conflict of Interest (COI) and Outside Activity Reporting System (Disclosure Sto develop and implement a user-friendly, University-wide Conflict of Interest (COI) and Outside Activity Reporting System (Disclosure System).

Rollout is scheduled to begin in 2022.

System Goals

  • A combined, single user-friendly disclosure system for research and extramural
  • Provide a centralized disclosure system for Faculty to disclose financial interests and extramural activities
  • Easily report information to School Deans, Department Chairs, and other Penn organizations about relevant Faculty activities outside of Penn
  • Easily report information to research funding agencies about Investigator financial conflicts of interests
  • Manage potential FCOI with Faculty and Investigators
  • Support other potential COI activities such as pre-approval of outside work and tracking of FCOI training
